Who We Are

Our Mission

To deliver effective and accessible Human Services to residents and members of poverty-stricken communities, ensuring that those who wouldn't typically have access to basic resources and supportive services are empowered to overcome life challenges.

Our Vision

Ensuring access to Human and Social services for those at a disadvantage due to lack of accessibility or information. By bridging the gap between inner-city communities and quality services, we envision reaching the overlooked in underserved areas and helping overcome challenges. Our goal is to restore self-value and create new pathways to healthier lifestyles, promoting the rise above poverty lines.

OUR AERAS OF FORCUS

HOMELESSNESS

the vein that runs directly to the heart of poverty

homelessness can be the result of a crisis or a domino effect leading up to one. experiencing the loss of adequate housing creates a state constant fear in stress, leaving one to feel stripped of their dignity with no direction for tomorrow. this can make the process of regaining independence a difficult obstacle for many to overcome.

unemployment

unemployment

the seed of hopelessness

Unemployment leads to poverty and poverty in turn leads to unemployment. An unemployed person has no means to earn money and cannot fulfill their basic needs.

Unemployment can be an emotional rollercoaster. What may start out as eagerness and hope for a new job can turn into bitterness, sadness, and anger as time passes without any luck. Especially when people are unemployed for extended amounts of time, the impact of unemployment on mental health can become more severe and even develop into mental health disorders.

THE PSYCHOLOGICAL TRAP

Poverty is both a cause of mental health problems and a consequence. Poverty can strain a person’s mental health. Many low-income people work long hours to pay bills and provide for their families. This lifestyle can impose immense stress and reduce a person’s cognitive ability.

Stressful life events have a close association with poor mental health and worsening poverty. These events might include violence and crime. Discrimination also acts as a barrier to opportunities and causes poorer mental health as well as a decreased ability to perform.

THE DEATH SENTENCE

It’s important to remember that people with substance use disorders don’t necessarily develop an addiction simply because they are poor. Someone who is solidly middle class can easily slip into poverty as the result of an untreated drug or alcohol addiction.

As an addiction develops, it becomes increasingly likely that a person will have problems performing at work. This might include arriving late, missing shifts, failing to meet project deadlines, or getting into arguments with colleagues. Eventually, this can lead to job loss.
